Hi. Just acquired a 2004 Jayco Freedom Pop Top, DUAL WHEELS, Shower/
Toilet, 21ft overall length (from Ball to rear). ATM 1974 - GTM 1869 - Tare Mass 1499.
Advice please re suitable
Tyre Pressures. Tyres -
Dunlop 185R 14C 8PR. Max Pressure shown on
Tyre 65 PSI. Recommended pressure on Compliance Plate - 190kpa (28psi).
Plan to have normal loading equally distributed, with Water Tanks kept close to Full Capacity at all times. I have not had Rig over a weighbridge as yet.
I am aware that the recommended pressure shown on Compliance Plate of 28psi (190kpa) is when the Tyres are cold. I take it that the overall pressure would increase 4 psi when they are warmed up.
Going on trip soon on sealed roads only.
Have Safety Hitch Sway Bars fitted.
Your advice please.
Tks

See if the following information is available on the
tyretyre Max load (per
tyre)
tyre Max pressure
Find on the compliance plate the tare and atm of the trailer
Then calculate
pressures for full and empty as follows but do not exceed max pressure specified on
tyre.
Full-
full load
tyre pressure = atm/(number of tyres x
tyre max load) x
tyre max pressure + 4 psi
Empty
empty trailer
tyre pressure = tare/(number of tyres x
tyre max load) x
tyre max pressure = 4 psi

Sorry typo
Empty should be
empty trailer
tyre pressure = tare/(number of tyres x
tyre max load) x
tyre max pressure + 4 psi

hi Isa nomads
i think you may mean tandem wheels one behind other on seperate axles
dual wheels are 2 wheels fitted side by side on same axle
i would increase pressure by 4psi if fully loaded and not rely on extra pressure build up caused by heat of rd travel
most tyres increase through normal rd friction particuly if not inflated enough for the load they are carying when cold to start with
cheers
